Great Teachers Start Here.

A renowned school of education
At the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education, ranked #14 among graduate schools of education by U.S. News & World Report, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of what can be conceived and what can be accomplished in a collaborative community of dedicated educators.
For over 100 years, we have been preparing great teachers to be agents of change at the forefront of education. As one of the world’s premiere centers for the study of urban education, we are leading the search for innovative solutions to its many challenges and creating mutually beneficial partnerships to rethink curriculum, develop sound policy and improve educational environments and outcomes for students everywhere.
A highly respected Master of Arts in Teaching
At Rossier, we challenged ourselves to re-imagine our Master of Arts in Teaching program; to create a trailblazing curriculum that integrates rich, interactive online learning with intensive, school-based fieldwork experiences, no matter where students live.
The result is the MAT@USC, the same rigor as our traditional on-campus MAT program, conceived and built around an honest discussion about how to integrate theory effectively with classroom practice.
A trailblazing online platform
The MAT@USC offers a separate course of study for aspiring teachers and current educators. Each program track takes a forward-thinking approach to confront the reality of today’s classrooms and how great teachers are needed more than ever to guarantee a diverse school community, offer personalized student experiences and seek innovative approaches to learning.
Taught by a faculty that includes current and former teachers, principals and school district administrators, the MAT@USC is one of the fastest growing teacher preparation programs and has placed students at more than 700 school districts and 1,400 individual schools around the country for practicum. It is one of the only online programs from an elite research university.
An opportunity to make a difference
To a student seeking inspiration, support and encouragement, a great teacher will be cherished for the rest of his or her life. For a parent, a great teacher becomes a trusted partner in quenching the child’s thirst for knowledge and fueling the child’s fascination with learning. And amongst other educators, a great teacher is one whose passion, commitment and leadership push the boundaries of possibility to new levels of achievement for all those committed to the future of education.
You can become a great teacher and join the movement for educational equity for all students. Become an agent of change with the MAT@USC.
