The International Language of Teaching

International students accepted into the MAT@USC TESOL program must have a proficiency in speaking English. Your background language does not matter. However, international candidates whose native language is other than English will be required (as a condition of admission) to attend a month-long Language Culture Institute hosted by the USC Language Academy.

The on-campus institute provides advanced training in English language classroom discourse and American culture. Participating students will experience immersion into the English language, explore foundational aspects of American culture and visit classrooms of fellow U.S. educators.
