An Inventive Approach to Teacher Training
The MAT@USC Single or Multiple Subject Credential program integrates online learning with field-based experiences in your local area to provide you with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to become a great teacher in elementary or secondary schools.
Curriculum
This innovative program is organized around a conceptual framework based on theories of learning and combines online coursework, fieldwork and a unique form of student teaching called Guided Practice.
- Learning Platform. Coursework is delivered online through the integration of video documenting, interactive lectures using streaming video, animation, and Web 2.0 technologies. All courses are taught by full-time USC faculty.
- Practical Application. Teaching is a practical skill, so you will learn how to integrate and apply learning theory into everyday practice under the direction of mentor teachers from selected K-12 schools in your area. Your mentor teacher has been carefully screened and trained in the program’s methods and objectives to provide you with extensive field-based experiences.
