    Earn Your Delaware Teaching Certificate

Students wishing to earn their Delaware teaching certification will participate in student teaching, also known as Guided Practice. Guided Practice takes place at an elementary, middle or high school close to your home or workplace. Your Guided Practice will be overseen by a Guiding Teacher who works close by. Local schools at which to conduct your Guided Practice and the Guiding Teacher to oversee it will be organized by the MAT@USC to uphold the high standards of the MAT@USC.

Upon completion of the MAT@USC Single or Multiple Subject Credential program, and the basic skills and subject area competency requirements, you will be eligible to be recommended for the California preliminary teacher certification. If your goal is to teach in Delaware or elsewhere, your certification path will involve either becoming preliminarily certified in California, and then transferring that certification to Delaware through interstate reciprocity agreements; or applying directly to Delaware’s credentialing authority for certification. Our Student Services team will provide support and direction to help you identify the most direct and efficient path to Delaware teacher certification.
