This esteemed program, which was recently recognized with the Best Practices Award for Innovative Use of Technology by the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE), now allows current and aspiring teachers from Georgia to study with acclaimed USC professors and earn a Master of Arts in Teaching from USC’s Rossier School of Education — all without leaving Georgia.

Created with state-of-the-art web 2.0 technologies that provide an immersive online education experience and staffed with USC’s renowned faculty, the MAT@USC is an incredible opportunity for those looking to become a teacher in Georgia.
Earn Your Georgia Teaching Certificate
Students looking to earn their Georgia teaching certification must fulfill a hands-on student teaching portion, also known as Guided Practice. Whether you live in Atlanta, Savannah or beyond, the MAT@USC will work together with local schools to arrange for your Guided Practice and a Guiding Teacher to oversee it. The MAT@USC will make arrangements, upholding the rigorous standards of USC’s Rossier School of Education.
Upon successful completion of the MAT@USC Single or Multiple Subject Credential program, and its basic skills and subject area competency requirements, you will be eligible for recommendation for the California teacher certification. If your goal is to teach in Georgia or elsewhere, your certification path will involve either becoming preliminarily certified in California, and then transferring that certification to Georgia through interstate reciprocity agreements; or by applying directly to Georgia’s credentialing authority for certification. Our Student Services team will provide support and direction to help you select the most efficient path to Georgia teacher certification.
