Earn Your Hawaii Teaching Certificate

Students who are interested in earning their Hawaii teaching certification will participate in a hands-on field-based student teaching known as Guided Practice. Regardless of where in Hawaii you are located, your Guided Practice will take place at a school near your home or workplace. Guided Practice is supervised by a Guiding Teacher specially selected and trained by the MAT@USC, who will work to maintain the rigorous standards of the Rossier School of Education.

Once you have completed the MAT@USC Single or Multiple Subject Credential program, you will be eligible to be recommended for the California teaching certification. If you hope to teach in Hawaii or another state, the certification can be transferred from California to Hawaii through interstate reciprocity agreements. As an alternative, you may also apply directly to Hawaii’s certification authority. The MAT@USC’s expert Student Services team will provide you with all the information and assistance necessary in acquiring a Hawaii teacher certification.
