Earn Your Idaho Teaching Certificate
Students who would like to earn their Idaho teaching certification can take part in hands-on student teaching called Guided Practice. Guided Practice takes place at an elementary, middle or high school close to your home or work, regardless of whether you live in Boise, Twin Falls or beyond. Your Guided Practice will be supervised by a Guiding Teacher specially selected and trained by the MAT@USC. The MAT@USC will coordinate a location for your Guided Practice and the Guiding Teacher who oversees it, all the while maintaining the high standards of the MAT@USC.
Upon successful completion of the MAT@USC Single or Multiple Subject Credential program, and its basic skills and subject area competency requirements, you will become eligible for recommendation to the California preliminary teacher certification. If your goal is to teach in Idaho, certification will involve either becoming preliminarily certified in California, then transferring your certification to Idaho through interstate reciprocity agreements; or by applying directly to your Idaho’s credentialing authority for certification.
