EARN YOUR MARYLAND TEACHING CERTIFICATE
The MAT@USC’s in-person teaching portion is required for all students working toward their Maryland teaching certification. This field experience, also known as Guided Practice, can be completed without much travel. Beginning in August of 2012, the MAT@USC will work together with your local schools in order to arrange for you to teach under the supervision of a Guiding Teacher, who has been selected and trained by the MAT@USC. At the conclusion of the MAT@USC Single or Multiple Subject Credential program, you will be eligible to be recommended for California preliminary teacher certification. If your goal is to teach in Maryland, your certification path will involve either becoming preliminarily certified in California, then transferring your certification to Maryland through interstate reciprocity agreements, or by applying directly to Maryland’s credentialing authority for state certification. Our Student Services team will provide support and direction to help you identify the most direct and efficient path to Maryland teacher certification.
