Whether you hail from the Twin Cities or Duluth, the MAT@USC work together with local schools to arrange for you to work under the supervision of a Guiding Teacher called a Guiding Teacher who has been chosen and trained by the MAT@USC. No matter where you live in Minnesota, you can earn your degree through the MAT@USC, while still learning under the rigorous standards of USC’s Rossier School of Education.
After completing the MAT@USC Single or Multiple Subject Credential program and satisfying the basic skills and subject area competency requirements, you will be eligible to be recommended for California preliminary teacher certification. If your goal is to teach in Minnesota, your certification path will involve either becoming preliminarily certified in California, and then transferring that certification to Minnesota through interstate reciprocity agreements; or applying directly to Minnesota’s credentialing authority for certification. Our Student Services team will provide support and direction to help you identify the most direct and efficient path to Minnesota teaching certification.
