Earn Your Utah Teaching Certificate
The MAT@USC blends interactive online learning with hands-on field-based experiences to provide a comprehensive learning experience. In addition to meeting with classmates and professors online for real-time learning sessions, students who are working to earn their Utah teaching certification will participate in a student teaching portion of the program called Guided Practice. No matter where in Utah a student is located, the MAT@USC will place them in a local classroom where they can observe and assist in the teaching process. Students are paired with a Guiding Teacher who has been carefully selected and trained by the MAT@USC. Ask your Student Support specialist to learn more about the Guided Practice program.
If you are interested in earning your teaching credential, you can elect to complete the MAT@USC Single or Multiple Subject Credential program. Once you successfully complete all of the requirements of your credential program, you will be eligible to be recommended for California preliminary teacher certification. If your goal is to teach in Utah, your certification path will involve either becoming preliminarily certified in California, and then transferring that certification to Utah through interstate reciprocity agreements; or applying directly to Utah’s credentialing authority for certification.
