Brooke A. Howland

Currently Dr. Howland is working with the Rossier School’s new Master’s of Arts in Teaching program. Additionally, she is a national reading and language arts consultant who provides professional development for educators who serve racially and linguistically diverse students at “under-performing” urban schools.

Dr. Howland received her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education at the University of Northern Colorado. Her studies emphasized Multicultural Anthropology, and Hispanic culture and English language acquisition. While completing the Teacher Education in Multicultural Societies, Ed.D. program at the University of Southern California her studies examined statistically-evident issues in urban education. Her research and interests continue in the areas of literacy development, and pre-service and in-service education for urban educators.
