For the initial master of arts in teaching course, the Framing Experience, it is required that students do classroom observations in an academic setting. At the time, my observations were many and varied, and it was hard to make sense of all the information and data I collected.
However, after now having successfully completed my next two classes, Educ 517A: Understanding the Social Context for Urban Schools: The Community and Educ 518: Application of Theories of Learning to Classroom Practice I have developed a new lens which has allowed me to reflect back upon my original observations. Now, I am able to make sense of the continuum of information I observed and am able to create a tangible experience. I can also successfully think critically and objectively relative to the pedagogy that will work best for me and about the students whose lives I will change in the very near future. I have learned a great deal and feel I am better equipped and one step further to metamorphosing into a future educator. The past three courses I have taken have aided me a great deal in connecting pedagogy into classroom practices as well as have given me a worldly perspective on various backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicity.
