Jon Eyler

Jon Eyler

Dr. Jon Eyler received his Ed.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Southern California. He has worked as a middle school and high school teacher, and for the past 6 years, he has served as an administrator at the district and county levels. Dr. Eyler currently works as a regional administrator for the Riverside County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA). In this capacity he provides leadership and guidance to 22 local education agencies (LEA) concerning the education of more than 30,000 students with special needs. In addition, Dr. Eyler serves as a consultant to the Riverside County Office of Education. Through this work he provides leadership and technical assistance to school and district leaders to narrow the achievement (or opportunity) gap and move districts out of Program Improvement. Dr. Eyler also serves as a state-wide technical assistance provider to districts with disproportionate representation, based on race and ethnicity, in special education. In this capacity he consults with the California Department of Education and local district leaders to identify and minimize areas of disproportionate representation. He is a frequent presenter throughout California on topics of discipline, positive behavior interventions and supports, disproportionality, and equity in education.

Dr. Eyler teaches the Learning Theory course as part of the MAT@USC program. His research and professional interests include human motivation (particularly in leadership), change management, accountability, equity in education, and student behavior.
