MAT@USC Commencement Recap

On Friday, May 13th over 400 Master of Arts in Teaching students from both the online and on-campus programs at USC’s Rossier School of Education walked at graduation in Founders Park in Los Angeles, CA. Students joined in the festivities from over 65 cities, including San Francisco, Atlanta, New York City, and Honolulu.

Besides the actual commencement ceremony, graduates were able to take part in a myriad of events! On the Friday before graduation, MAT students attended a graduation cocktail reception where they were able to finally meet their peers face-to-face as well as mingle with faculty and staff from Rossier, including Dean Karen Symms Gallagher. Students were also able to contribute to a group-wide painting that will be displayed on campus.

Other Trojan Pride events included:

  • A Welcome Lunch with Dean Gallagher, faculty and classmates, featuring Capstone Presentations from students
  • I’m graduating… now what? – Students were able to learn how to put the Trojan Network to work
  • Conquering the Job Market – MAT@USC students heard from a panel of renowned practitioners on what they look for when they are hiring
  • Resume Review – Students were able to bring their resume for a small group discussion and receive expert advice from our faculty advisors
  • A special event, In Tribute to Teaching, featured remarks by Dr. Susan Moore Johnson
  • We are so proud of our graduates and thankful that so many were able to come out to Southern California for this monumental event! We welcome all our new graduates to the Trojan Family and look forward to the successes they will achieve in their future!

    Fight on!
