Rosa Valdes

As part of the MAT@USC program, Rosa Valdes teaches EDUC 518, Application of Learning Theories to Classroom Practice. She has taught this online course as a part-time instructor. She is also looking forward to teaching Understanding the Social Context of Schools.

Rosa worked as a researcher for UCLA’s National Center for Research on Evaluation Standards and Student Testing, evaluating the efficacy of school programs and helping to develop learning and instructional quality measures. For the past 10 years, she has worked as a researcher in the Los Angeles Unified Schools’ Research and Planning Division and in the district’s Data and Accountability Office. She has observed and analyzed classroom instruction and teacher training in schools throughout the LAUSD and have developed a true appreciation for the important and difficult work of teaching. She has also taught research methods and assessment courses to prospective teachers and school counselors in the CSU system.
